Job Overview

Widener University is seeking a highly skilled Campus Safety Officer to join our team. As a key member of our safety and security department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our university community members.

This is a full-time position that averages 40 hours a week, with a salary of $66 per hour. You will work primarily outdoors, responding to calls for service and fostering good community relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to reports of irregularities, including fire hazards, facilities/mechanical malfunctions, physical altercations, accidents, and criminal activities.
  • Inspect premises to identify potential security risks or vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Experience in customer service or a security-related field.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public.
  • Ability to operate a computer, radio, or equipment located in a vehicle or hand-held.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the university community and colleagues.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk up and down steps both inside and outside buildings.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary: $66 per hour.
  • Sign-on bonus: $500 upon successful completion of the training program.
  • Additional sign-on bonus: $1,000 after six months of employment.
