About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Data & Modelling team at Centre for Net Zero. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in building energy systems models and working on other data projects that drive our mission to create a fully sustainable global energy system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement machine learning and statistical models to solve complex energy-related problems
  • Design and build data pipelines to support our energy systems modelling work
  • Collaborate with our team to research and develop new technical solutions for energy systems modelling
  • Present your work to internal and external stakeholders, including our leadership team and industry peers
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in energy systems modelling and machine learning, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation in our work
Requirements
  • 2+ years of professional experience developing machine learning or statistical models to solve real-world problems
  • Fluency in Python and SQL, with experience working with git, testing, and CI/CD
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the relevance of your work in the bigger picture context
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality technical contributions
Nice to Have
  • Experience deploying and monitoring models in production, with an awareness of the ways models fail in production
  • Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations
