Clinical Psychologist for High-Risk Offenders

Job Summary

This role involves providing psychological input to Probation teams, including case identification and pathway management for high-risk individuals with personality difficulties.

As a Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist, you will work closely with the Enhanced Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (E-IIRMS) to identify individuals eligible for direct psychosocial interventions and psychological therapy.

Key responsibilities include providing psychological consultations, conducting joint work sessions, developing and delivering training, and supervising other psychologists.

The role requires a proactive, flexible, and relational clinician with experience in multi-agency working, formulating complexity, and providing direct and indirect input to a stigmatised and marginalised population.

Main Duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing psychological input to Probation teams
  • Working with E-IIRMS to identify individuals eligible for direct psychosocial interventions
  • Conducting joint work sessions with individuals and Probation Practitioners
  • Developing and delivering training for Probation teams
  • Supervising other psychologists

About the Role

This post is based in Milton Keynes and requires travel between sites to meet the needs of the service. The role is part of the Forensic Mental Health Psychology team, which provides a unique learning opportunity.

Person Specification

Essential qualifications include a Doctoral Level postgraduate professional training course in applied psychology and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups and teaching, training, and supervision are also essential.

Desirable qualifications include experience of working therapeutically with a forensic population and knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies.
