Role Overview

The Assistant Director of Rooms is a senior leadership role responsible for directing and controlling the activities of the Front Office, Guest Services, Concierge, and Housekeeping departments. This role requires a high level of expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Department Heads, ensuring thorough communication and follow-up on any problems, guest or employee requests, or special requirements.
  2. Review and monitor schedules of staff in all departments in the Rooms Division, ensuring that standards are being met, staff is being supported, and guest needs are being met.
  3. Resolve customer complaints from all areas of the hotel, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism.
  4. Assist customers in all inquiries in connection with hotel services, hours of operations, key hotel personnel, in-house events, directions, etc.
  5. Assure that financial goals are being met, monitoring and controlling staff, supplies, and equipment expenses.
  6. Responsible for the overall condition of the property, conducting regular walkthroughs and partnering with Housekeeping and Engineering teams.
  7. Lead and be responsible for the Perfect Room Program in collaboration with Engineering.
  8. Support the Front Office/Housekeeping as MOD and in other roles when needed.
  9. Collaborate with the Guest Experience manager to develop new and unique guest experiences.
  10. Assist with recruiting efforts and ensure that all department managers are in compliance with standards of interviewing and hiring procedures.
  11. Assist in overseeing the Manager Development Program.
  12. Conduct coaching, counseling, performance reviews, and check-ins.
  13. Use budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress reports as needed to assist in the management of the Room Operations.
  14. Assist in the effective manpower planning of Rooms Division and ensuring that all departments' schedules meet the operational needs.
  15. Review and negotiate all contracts for rooms division, ensuring the services provided meet the requirements and standards of the hotel.
  16. Keep abreast with competition, new developments, and techniques in the hotel industry to ensure market share and maximize profitability.
  17. Conduct and/or attend meetings to facilitate favorable working relationships among employees and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  18. Prepare reports and develop databases for improved management decision-making.
  19. Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction, and well-being of hotel guests and employees when senior managers are not available.
