Engineering Founder in Residence

We are seeking an experienced engineering co-founder to join our team at Deep Science Ventures and lead the development and optimization of our CO2 storage technology. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our current Founder in Residence to co-found and spin-out a new company focused on addressing the challenge of enabling secure and scalable geological CO2 storage.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical specifications, and be responsible for the company's design and engineering workflow.
- Collaborate with the DSV team and other stakeholders to identify and address technical challenges related to CO2 storage.
- Work closely with the Founder in Residence to develop and implement a business plan for the new company.
- Lead the development and optimization of our CO2 storage technology, including the design and testing of new systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, partners, and customers.
- Higher degree (MEng or PhD) in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered engineer recognized by an appropriate engineering institution or council.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in an operating plant, manufacturing environment, or other industrial setting.
- Familiarity with gas compression and water pumping systems.
- Experience in CAD, process simulation software (e.g. Aspen, HYsys), and familiarity with languages such as MATLAB, Python (or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills, and a willingness to solve problems related to process design, root cause analysis, and optimization.
- Strong appreciation of health and safety, social impact, and environmental concerns.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to clearly present complex ideas and concepts.
- Creative and positive personality, who is willing to learn, take on new responsibilities, and contribute new ideas to shape the company.
