We are seeking a talented UK Capability Development Manager to join our team at GlaxoSmithKline.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity is for a professional to work with UK commercial launch brands and build high-quality commercial capability plans aligned with business unit priorities.

The successful candidate will use internal and external resources to plan, deliver, and embed high-quality capability interventions across multiple commercial roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate as a capability partner to business unit leads to create and deliver capability programs that meet strategy and measurable impact requirements.
  • Work closely with health, value, and access teams, as well as launch and pipeline leads, to effectively plan capabilities required for future launches.
  • Jointly own the capability plan with brand and sales leads, focusing on building learning journeys, creating a culture of learning, and aligning with 70:20:10 learning principles.
  • Drive excellence in core sales skills by working with existing UK capability partners and managers and exploring leading examples within and outside the pharma sector.
  • Accountable for building and maintaining a basic working knowledge of therapy areas, GSK medicines, and competitors' products in the market or pipeline to ensure continued value addition to sales teams.
  • Engage with internal resources and third-party suppliers to deliver the best possible learning experience according to the capability plan.
  • Work closely with UK commercial capability managers and partners to ensure capability, training, and learning interventions are planned and balanced across different business units and delivered against a competitive but realistic capability plan.
  • Collaborate with the capability director, European directors, EU5 leads, and local leadership teams to ensure alignment of global/regional programs, share best practices, and improve sales engagement through change management programs.
  • Work with broader PS&O teams on identified big bets to build stronger partnering between the whole team and business units.

About You

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Proven ability to set direction, inspire, and lead others across the business.
  • Ability to quickly build relationships with key stakeholders, including up to SVP level at UK Leadership Teams and European/Global levels.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles.
  • Experience of project and program management, managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Leadership of projects across matrix teams.
  • Ability to define and shape best practice through looking both internally and externally to GSK.
  • Proven ability to use multiple inputs to define strategy and create/deliver solutions to drive improvement in performance.
  • Broad knowledge of third-party suppliers and when to engage with them.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this role is £60,000 - £90,000 per annum.
