Become a Shared Lives Carer

Wigan Council is currently seeking Shared Lives Carers to provide support to local people who need assistance due to age, disability, or illness. As a Shared Lives Carer, you will be matched with an individual who shares your interests or values, and you will work together to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
Types of Placements- Full-Time Placement: Provide a long-term home for an individual, offering a furnished bedroom and encouraging them to participate in family life.
- Respite/Short-Term Break: Offer temporary support for an individual, providing a safe and welcoming space for them to stay.
- Emergency Support: Provide immediate support in times of crisis, ensuring the individual's safety and well-being.
- Day Support: Spend time with an individual, engaging in activities and exploring new opportunities in the community.
- Be over 18 years old
- Have a minimum of 4 hours per week to spare
- Have a spare bedroom in your home
- Be willing to support an individual in developing their skills and aspirations
- Friendship and companionship
- A modest payment for your time and expenses
- Free training and support from our Shared Lives team
- Opportunities to develop new relationships and skills
