Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team in Wigan Children's Services. As a Band 8A Psychologist, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary safeguarding team, working with children and young people who are at risk of becoming looked after or are experiencing complex extra-familial harm.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulation, and therapeutic interventions for children and young people referred to the service.
  • Offer psychological consultation to other professionals involved in their care.
  • Work closely with the senior managers, local authority staff, CAMHS, and wider agencies to ensure a psychologically informed and trauma-informed service delivery system.
  • Contribute to the development of the right models of intervention and provide training to the team.
  • Form part of a multi-professional, multi-agency team that supports children, young people, families, and their carers who are on the edge of care.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with:

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Desirable criteria: experience of working with children and young people, knowledge of trauma-informed practice, and experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
