Derby-based Opportunity for a Materials Engineer

Salary: £20,735 per year

Location: Derby

Duration: 4 years

This exciting role offers the chance to work with world-class scientists and engineers at Rolls-Royce. As a Materials Engineering Apprentice, you will be responsible for ensuring the materials used are innovative and safe.

  • You will develop your knowledge of different materials and their uses while gaining experience in failure investigation studies, research and development, process control, manufacturing support, supplier management, and laboratory-related improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to deliver products and materials within specification.
  • Analyze and model material properties to help Design Engineers understand behavior in extreme environments.
  • Conduct forensic failure investigations through metallurgical analysis to improve performance and safety.

Requirements:

  • Five GCSEs including Maths and Physics at grade B/6, English Language at Grade B/5, plus 2 others at grade 4/C in any subject.
    • Three A-levels at BBC, including Maths and Chemistry at grade C or above, plus one other, excluding General Studies.
    • A Level 3 Extended BTEC Diploma in an Engineering-related subject at DDM.
