Job Title: Band 5 Midwife

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Band 5 Midwife to join our team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Band 5 Midwife, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to women and birthing people throughout their pregnancy journey.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic midwife who is passionate about delivering excellent care and making a positive impact on the lives of our patients. As a Band 5 Midwife, you will work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team to provide safe, clinically effective, and individualized care to women and birthing people.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care for patients assigned to you.
  • Provide care to bereaved patients and their relatives, breaking bad news and supporting other staff undergoing this process.
  • Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary professionals and agencies, ensuring seamless care at a high standard.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, including the delegation of patient care to midwives with the appropriate level of skill at all times.
  • Report any accidents/incidents to the Ward Manager/Team Leader and/or Supervisor of Midwives.
  • Ensure that midwifery procedures/guidelines are implemented and maintained in accordance with the policies of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and national guidance.
  • Participate in teaching for all learners in accordance with their objectives, working closely with local education providers.
  • Supervise the training of qualified and unqualified staff, and assist junior staff to develop clinical and managerial skills, in accordance with their level of competence.
Requirements:
  • Current, effective, and up-to-date registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Proven experience in all areas of midwifery practice.
  • Proven experience of delegation of workload when looking after a caseload.
  • Able to work in a team, think clearly under pressure, and provide leadership and support to junior members of the team.
  • Enthusiastic, assertive, and able to deal with exposure to bereavement and challenging behavior.
  • Flexible to change in demands of service and willing to learn new skills.
