Job Title: Child Welfare Specialist

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Welfare Specialist to join our Safeguarding and Pastoral Team. As a Youth Mental Health Professional, you will work with children and adolescents to provide emotional support and guidance. The ideal candidate will have a post-graduate Diploma or Masters level in Counselling or Psychotherapy, specialising in working with children and adolescents.

The role involves providing one-to-one counselling services to students, supporting the school's Mental Health Lead, and coordinating in-school support from specialist mental health services. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing behaviour effectively to create a positive, calm, and purposeful climate for learning
  • Providing counselling services to students and staff
  • Coordinating in-school support from specialist mental health services
  • Delivering group sessions or workshops and supporting related whole-school initiatives


Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide a safe and supportive environment for students to explore their emotions and concerns
  • To work closely with teachers and other staff members to identify and address any underlying issues affecting student well-being
  • To develop and implement effective strategies to promote student mental health and well-being


Requirements:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • A deep understanding of child development and adolescent psychology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including students, teachers, and parents
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training
