About the Role

We are seeking a Clinical Dietitian Specialist to join our team at NHS Scotland, providing direct clinical care and expertise on nutritional therapy to patients, the general public, and other healthcare professionals.

The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality dietetic care and management of patients, as well as contributing to the development of nutritional therapy expertise within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients, including dietetic assessment, treatment, and management
  • Act as a source of expertise on nutritional therapy to patients, the general public, and other healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to the development of nutritional therapy expertise within the organization
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality dietetic care and management
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures related to nutritional therapy
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education to maintain expertise in nutritional therapy
Requirements
  • Registered dietitian with valid HCPC registration
  • Excellent team working skills and ability to work using own initiative
  • Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
Desirable Qualifications
  • Degree or postgraduate diploma in dietetics
  • State registration with Health Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of further training/CPD in dietetic practice
  • Experience of training other staff groups on nutrition
  • Evidence of involvement in projects/clinical effectiveness work
  • Evidence of working or clinical placement within an acute hospital setting
  • Interest and/or experience in student training
  • Good knowledge of up-to-date dietetic practice
  • Knowledge of audit, standard development, and supporting change in practice with teams
  • Knowledge of specialist dietetic interventions relevant to post
  • Ability to prioritize caseload/work
  • Flexible, motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking
  • Skills in group work
  • Networking skills
Contract Details

Fixed-term or secondment for 9 months

Full-time

37 hours

Please note this is a fixed-term post for 9 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Scotland staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Nutrition & Dietetics within University Hospital Hairmyres.
