The Built Environment and Mineral Surveyors Team (BEAMS) at the VOA has an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join the team, supporting operational delivery and senior leadership and development managers.

Our team comprises development managers, chartered surveyors in specialist minerals and built environment disciplines, surveying technicians, apprentice team members, graduates, and researchers.

We offer specialist surveying services across government on various professional and technical services. Our work provides variety as we are responsible for delivering surveying and valuation services on a range of specialist property classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management and motivation of a team, including active roles in their development through knowledge sharing, upskilling, performance management, succession planning, and applying HR policies.
  • Working closely with and providing support to the Head of BEAMS and Team Leaders on strategic business and operational functions.
  • Liaising with external and internal stakeholders, managing receipt of information to support BEAMS operations.
  • Responsibility for BEAMS coordination and collation of casework activity data, used by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to manage work and team performance.
  • Analyzing data and producing financial reports on a regular basis, presenting findings to the SLT.
  • Maintaining work monitors and ensuring they are always up to date with new received casework requests.
  • Maintaining and improving current work systems, tools, and processes relevant to the BEAMS business function.
  • Responsibility for coordinating and managing the maintenance of the BEAMS Strategic work monitors, Inboxes, and updating SharePoint and intranet pages.

Requirements:

  • Experience of using coaching skills and constructive feedback to support, motivate, and empower individuals to improve their own and team performance.
  • Ability to communicate complex information and data effectively using numerical, written, and verbal approaches.
  • Self-motivation and ability to make effective decisions independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  • Good time management and organizational skills to adapt flexibility and embrace changing business needs.
  • Good analytical skills and good judgment to inform decisions or when providing advice to others.
  • Strong skills with a willingness to develop and learn bespoke agency tools and data to support business operations.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office 365 tools effectively, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and with potential overnight stays to facilitate requirements of the role.
