Assistant Director of Finance and Operations

The Meadowbrook School, a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school located in Weston, MA, is seeking an experienced professional to join our faculty as an Assistant Director of Finance and Operations. This role plays a critical part in the Business Office, responsible for managing and ensuring the accuracy of the school's financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the school's financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and FASB standards.
  • Coordinate the annual financial and 403(b) audits, preparing reports and reconciliations as required.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including budget/forecast variance analysis, cash flow analysis, and investments accounting.
  • Supervise and assist the Staff Accountant with student billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchasing.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Office to reconcile and report on donations monthly and annually.
  • Assist the HR Coordinator with payroll and benefits accounting as needed.
  • Work to maximize department utilization of accounting systems and continuously improve accounting, financial reporting, and internal control policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to auxiliary programs, including summer programs, after-school programs, rentals, and transportation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred; private education experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a diverse group of people and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present data effectively.
  • Previous experience with RFPs, specifically to evaluate and implement new accounting software preferred.
