Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Job OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced professional to work as part of our multidisciplinary team, delivering specialist mental health services to children and young people across Berkshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care, working closely with families, carers, and other healthcare professionals to promote positive outcomes and improve the mental health and wellbeing of our service users.
Main Responsibilities- Clinical triage and assessment of patients requesting appointments for mental health issues, including challenging behaviour.
- Signposting and navigating to other sources of information and local support, such as peer support, social prescribers, and youth workers.
- Identifying onward referral pathways and making appropriate referrals, undertaking screening and ensuring provision of required information to support the referral.
- Helping people develop coping strategies and draw on their own strengths and resources.
- Liaising with CAMHS to enable crisis support and admission avoidance where necessary.
- Facilitating appropriate representation in practice-based MDTs to support clinical management of identified patients.
- Providing specialist advice to GPs and other members of the MDT on the particular needs of children and young people and their families, including advice on symptoms, risk, or the need for a referral.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A qualification in a relevant mental health core profession, such as child and adolescent mental health.
- Registration with the relevant UK governing body, such as HCPC or BABCP.
- Experience of working in CYP mental health services, with a focus on delivering high-quality clinical care and supporting the development of positive mental health outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with families, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education, to ensure that your skills and knowledge remain up-to-date and relevant.
