About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Same Day Emergency Care team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our emergency care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients with complex presentations, utilizing evidence-based practice and legislation to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective patient care.
  • Initiate diagnostic tests, interpret results, and provide advice to colleagues on patient treatment, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and making necessary modifications.
  • Practice autonomously, exercising independent judgment and expertise in complex decision-making, while recognizing limitations and referring to senior medical staff or Senior Advanced Practitioners as needed.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, relatives, and staff, adhering to infection prevention and control policies.
Requirements
  • Registration on the relevant part of the register with the NMC or HCPC, with no restrictions on practice.
  • Master's degree-level education meeting the requirements of the national framework for Advanced Level Practice.
  • Study/knowledge relevant to the specialty, including experience in supporting learners and supervising their progress.
  • Post-basic qualification in the specialty, research module as part of Master's degree, and independent non-medical prescribing (V300) if permitted within the professional group.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Clinical-based Master's degree, study/knowledge relevant to the specialty, and postgraduate management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake.
  • Counselling qualification, research qualification, and successful completion of a previous NMC-approved teaching and assessing or equivalent.
Advanced Clinical Skills
  • Evidence of developing advanced skills in history taking and physical examination skills within the specialty area.
  • Highly developed communication skills, ability to assess, diagnose, and act under pressurized environments, and demonstrates expertise in complex decision-making.
  • Autonomous management of own patient load, ability to assess, diagnose, and develop management plans for urgently referred patients.
