Job Title: Shift Operations Controller

Colas Rail UK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Operations Controller to join our team in Rugby on a permanent basis. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Colas Fleet on all shifts.
  • Proactively manage the reporting, recording, and escalation of incidents, accidents, and environmental occurrences.
  • Manage all aspects of Colas Rail Fleet, including staff and commercial issues, to ensure successful completion of production work on each shift.
  • Assist in the management of safety, accidents, incidents, and environmental issues, as well as production output and quality for all Rail Services equipment and operators.
  • Monitor staff booked on for duty and identify those who have failed to book on and off.
  • Log fuel levels and working directions of the OTM fleet.
  • Produce a clear and concise written handover of outstanding events to the next shift.
  • Assist in the response to any SPAD/incidents involving manpower or OTM when on duty or available to attend.
  • Receive information and react as an escalation centre for accidents and incidents on Colas Project sites.
  • Manage the standards inside the control room to facilitate efficient and professional operation.
  • Ensure all machine/locos and train movements are managed to eradicate any eventuality of subsequent costs for third-party train delays.
  • Proactively manage commercial issues on shift and have thorough knowledge of commercial implications.
  • Check resource for each transit and working shift to ensure no anomalies.
  • Understand the reporting and escalating lines between the different divisions and report appropriately.
  • Educate and train new starters on the role and responsibilities.
