About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Room Operator to join our team at Colas Rail UK. As a Control Room Operator, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of our freight services.

As a key member of our Operations Control team, you will be responsible for delivering a safe, efficient, and optimal train plan for all Colas customers during both normal train running and disruptive events.

You will be the primary point of contact for our customers, ensuring clear communication and timely updates on train movements and any issues that may arise.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in railway operations, with experience in managing real-time train movements and resolving complex issues in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage real-time train movements and ensure safe and efficient operation of our freight services
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless train operations
  • Monitor and respond to incidents and accidents in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to ensure locomotive performance and availability
  • Proactively manage fuel levels and locations of the locomotive fleet
  • Assist in the management of safety, accidents, and incidents
  • Develop and implement train service recovery plans for failed services
  • Deliver effective communication in relation to all aspects of the daily train plan
