Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services (DARS) based across NHS Highland. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist services within urban and rural communities across the North Highland region.

The role involves undertaking direct clinical work within defined localities, as well as a consultative and supervisory element, including supporting the development of medical and non-medical staff in the delivery of specialist treatment interventions.

The post holder will work with others to co-produce interventions aimed at supporting recovery and reducing harm, including the implementation of Medication Assisted Treatment Standards (MAT). The successful candidate will also participate in the Consultant on call rota at New Craigs Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist services within urban and rural communities across the North Highland region
  • Undertake direct clinical work within defined localities
  • Support the development of medical and non-medical staff in the delivery of specialist treatment interventions
  • Co-produce interventions aimed at supporting recovery and reducing harm
  • Participate in the Consultant on call rota at New Craigs Hospital
Requirements

The successful candidate must be on the GMC specialist register in General Adult Psychiatry (with an endorsement in Substance Misuse Psychiatry) or within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview. Consideration can be given to appoint on a proleptic basis.

The post requires participation in the Consultant on call rota at New Craigs Hospital, with a current rota frequency of 1:16 and an availability supplement of 3%.
