About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Conductor to join our team at Great Western Railway. As a Conductor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of our passengers, while also providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a world-class customer experience by providing information, assistance, and a friendly and reassuring presence on board our trains.
  • Manage the safe operation of the train, including checking and selling tickets, and ensuring a safe, clean, and pleasant environment is maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from Revenue Protection, drivers, and station staff to ensure a seamless and efficient service.
  • Be visible and approachable to customers, providing information and help as required.
  • Adapt to new people, new places, and new situations, demonstrating a flexible and proactive approach to work.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of front-line customer service, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, and to be flexible in response to changing operational requirements.
  • Confidence and ability to manage challenging situations, with a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding of customers' needs and the ability to provide tailored solutions to meet those needs.
