About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering Front Engineering activities for Small Modular Reactors, Advanced Modular Reactors, and Fusion projects.

Your primary focus will be on spearheading the delivery of cutting-edge power station systems, taking charge of optioneering studies to pinpoint the ultimate solution that perfectly aligns with client objectives, and leading a dynamic team in crafting and refining essential design documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Front Engineering activities for Small Modular Reactors, Advanced Modular Reactors, and Fusion projects.
  • Lead a dynamic team in crafting and refining essential design documents.
  • Take charge of optioneering studies to evaluate viable options.
  • Direct the development of Design Description Documents and Requirement Specifications.
  • Seamlessly integrate developed systems into the broader plant infrastructure.
  • Chair Design Reviews and lead HAZID/HAZOP studies with diverse, multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

We are looking for a strong candidate with:

  • Previous experience in highly regulated industries like nuclear, thermal power generation, or oil and gas.
  • Expertise in thermal power systems and equipment, from steam turbines to pumps.
  • Proficiency in optioneering and conducting studies to evaluate viable options.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills for seamless interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with ASME, European, and UK codes and standards.
  • Appreciation for requirements management and systems engineering principles.
