About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational leader to join our team as a Residential Care Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our children's homes and staff teams, ensuring that every child receives high-quality care tailored to their individual needs.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will contribute to the development of our service, working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to provide exceptional care and support to children and young people.

Responsibilities
  • Foster positive relationships between children and staff
  • Work with professionals, families, and communities to ensure the best outcomes for children
  • Lead recruitment, selection, induction, supervision, training, and development processes
  • Deputise for the Service Delivery Manager as required
  • Advocate for children's views, wishes, and feelings
  • Nurture children's ambitions and learning
  • Develop effective working protocols and keep up-to-date with local and national developments
  • Create a stable and secure base for children
  • Ensure safe handling and administration of medication
  • Manage complex behaviour and reduce criminalisation
  • Manage matching and admissions to the home
  • Ensure individual care plans are developed and delivered
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification plus NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
  • At least 2 years' experience in residential care of children and 1 year in a supervisory or management role
  • Knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and associated quality standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively and chair meetings constructively
  • In-depth knowledge of adolescent growth and development, child protection procedures, and law and practice relating to looked-after children
  • Working knowledge of team building, teamwork, group dynamics, and motivation
  • Computer literacy and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
