About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our Neurodiversity Pathway, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively with children, families, and professionals to provide person-centred, holistic care. This will involve conducting mental health assessments, developing treatment plans, and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. Your expertise will contribute to complex cases, service development, and staying up-to-date with the latest Neurodiversity research and advancements.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
  • Experience of working with children and young people's mental health needs, families, and parents/carers, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse.
  • Experience of undertaking specialist mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions for children's mental health, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments.
  • Experience of safeguarding children and young people and ensuring their safety in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.

Qualifications and Training

You will need:

  • Professional knowledge acquired through a degree supplemented by specialist training or equivalent experience to Masters level with a relevant core professional training (Psychological profession, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy).
  • Training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach.
  • Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP).
  • Training in supervision and/or leadership skills or willingness to work towards.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
