Overview

Appointed for Scotland is seeking two new Members of the Board of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to support the organisation's mission to build a greener, fairer, and more resilient region.

The Board Members will play a crucial role in setting the strategic direction, making key decisions, and ensuring effective governance of HIE. They will bring a range of skills, knowledge, and experience that reflect the diversity of the region and the breadth of HIE's remit.

The ideal candidates will have a strong affinity and understanding of the issues impacting the Highlands and Islands and the opportunities to support economic and community development across the region. One of the appointees must live, work, study, or invest in the Highlands and Islands, while the second candidate should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the economic, cultural, and fiscal issues impacting the region.

The successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate evidence of at least one of the priority criteria, including knowledge of natural capital, energy, or property. They will also need to demonstrate essential criteria such as knowledge and understanding of the economic, cultural, and fiscal issues impacting the Highlands and Islands, strategy and long-term planning, communicating and influencing, and analysing and scrutinising performance and delivery.
