About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Genetic Research and Development Leader to join our team at Tropic Biosciences in Norwich, UK. This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive compensation package.

Job Overview

This exciting opportunity will see you lead the delivery of key technology projects within our GEiGS (genome-editing induced gene silencing) team. As a seasoned molecular biologist, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and analysing experiments to the highest standards. You will work closely with our bioinformatics team to analyse RNA and siRNA sequencing data and develop new research projects, particularly novel bioassays to demonstrate our technology in different crop/pest systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will manage external collaborative projects, working to a defined scientific plan and facilitating successful outcomes.
  • You will manage projects with service providers - with a focus on cloning, plant transformation, and bioassays.
  • You will present and report results to key stakeholders in the company, including senior management.
  • You will train and mentor those around you, and proactively work to develop the GEiGS team.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A PhD in a relevant field + postdoc/industry experience OR A Bsc/Msc in a relevant field with a strong record of delivery within the biotechnology industry.
  • Professional, effective communication skills.
  • Excellent team player and line management skills.
  • Hands-on and demonstrable expertise in molecular biology, experimental design, and rigorous data analysis including statistics.
