Sewing Activity Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Volunteer Sewing Assistant to join our team at Medaille Trust. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering sewing activities that bring joy and purpose to our service users.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have excellent sewing skills, experience in teaching others, and a strong understanding of trauma-informed care. You will work closely with our staff members to deliver activities that promote social engagement, creativity, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and deliver sewing activities, including safe use and maintenance of sewing machines
- Teach and assist service users in making patterns and sewn items by hand and machine
- Support service users in engaging with group settings and activity sessions
To be successful in this role, you must be:
- Able to commit every fortnight
- Female, as this role is restricted under the Equality Act 2010
- At least 18 years old
- Computer literate and proficient in spoken and written English
- Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
- Knowledgeable about human trafficking issues or willing to learn
- Knowledgeable about mental health conditions or willing to learn
- Able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
