Volunteer Sewing Assistant

Medaille Trust is a leading charity in the fight against modern slavery, and we are seeking a Volunteer Sewing Assistant to join our team in Southampton. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver sewing activities that promote social engagement, creativity, and personal growth among our service users.
About the CharityRanked 6th best charity to work for in the UK by Best Companies in 2023 Q3, Medaille Trust provides survivor services, safehouses, and outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff. We support over 600 men, women, and children each year.
Job DescriptionThis role involves coordinating and delivering sewing activities, including teaching service users how to use sewing machines and making patterns and sewn items by hand and machine. You will also support service users in engaging with group settings and activity sessions.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Excellent sewing skills and experience in teaching others
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and ability to engage with female adults in a trauma-informed way
- Ability to commit every fortnight and attend regular meetings
- Computer literacy and proficiency in spoken and written English
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
