We are seeking a volunteer handyman/woman to assist with general maintenance tasks at our safe house in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic and supportive environment while making a real difference in the lives of survivors of modern slavery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with general maintenance tasks, including installing shelving and other minor repairs.
  • Work closely with staff to deliver activities and ensure procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and respect when interacting with survivors.
  • Attend fortnightly meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Age: At least 18 years old.
  • Location: Ability to travel to our venue in Southampton.
  • Commitment: Fortnightly attendance.
  • Skills: Basic computer literacy and good spoken and written English.
  • Certifications: Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Knowledge: Human trafficking and mental health issues, or willingness to learn.
  • Professionalism: Understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is around £10-12 per hour, depending on experience. As a volunteer, you will not receive a salary but will gain valuable experience and contribute to a worthwhile cause.
