Job Overview

HM Courts and Tribunals Service is an agency of the Ministry of Justice, providing support for the legal system across England and Wales, as well as non-devolved tribunals in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our justice system defends fundamental rights and freedoms, protecting vulnerable people and ensuring a fair and accessible system for all.

The Role

As an Administrative Officer with HM Courts and Tribunals Service, you will be assigned to teams to carry out general administrative duties, progressing cases through the court or tribunal system. You will work closely with colleagues, using continuous improvement tools and techniques to improve processes within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing court/tribunal documents and general photocopying and filing
  • Creating and updating records on in-house computer systems and data input
  • Post opening and dispatch, booking meeting rooms, and preparing meeting agendas

Requirements

We are looking for someone with strong customer focus and service skills, experience working in an administrative role in a customer-focused environment, and proficiency with IT and Microsoft software packages. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also essential.

Working Environment

You will work in a team with regular management support, responsible for your own time, although there may be opportunities to provide advice and limited supervision of others. The post holder will be allocated to a specific office base but may need flexibility to work at other local HMCTS offices on an ad hoc basis.

Benefits

Alongside a salary of £22,940, you will receive contributions towards a Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme, access to learning and development opportunities, flexible working options, and a supportive working culture that encourages inclusion and diversity.
