Independent Assurance Professional

Estimated Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum.

About the Role:

As an Independent Assurance Professional at BAE Systems, you will be part of a team responsible for providing assurance that our submarines meet the required nuclear and radiological safety and security standards. Your primary objective will be to perform independent inspections and surveillance to evaluate the nuclear and radiological safety and security performance at Barrow.

Throughout this process, you will be inspecting and assessing the business's capability to progress the submarine build and/or projects in the Site Redevelopment Programme. You will also be responsible for communicating the conclusions of your inspections and findings to various stakeholders, including external regulators, board members, senior managers, and business peers.

This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as experience working in a similar regulated industry. If you are passionate about nuclear safety and want to make a real difference, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing independent inspection, surveillance, and concurrence of nuclear work on facilities, plant, equipment, and nuclear support services.
  • Assessing the business's capability to progress the submarine build and/or projects in the Site Redevelopment Programme.
  • Communicating the conclusions of your inspections and findings to various stakeholders.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Working knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions/authorisation conditions and working on nuclear licenced sites from a similar role and/or security regulations/or an equivalent regulated industry.
  • Experience of managing programmes of work within the nuclear industry or equivalent highly regulated industry.
  • Experience of engaging and influencing senior management and external regulators.
