About Our Team:

The Independent Nuclear Assurance Team acts as the internal regulator for the Submarines business, forming an evidence-based independent view of the business' nuclear and radiological safety and security performance.

">

We are looking for a skilled Nuclear Safety and Security Inspector to join our team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the nuclear safety and security performance at Barrow.

Your key responsibilities will include:

">
  • ">
  • Performing independent inspections and surveillance of nuclear work on facilities, plant, equipment, and nuclear support services.">
  • Inspecting and assessing the business's capability to progress submarine build and/or projects in the Site Redevelopment Programme.">
  • Communicating findings to various stakeholders, including external regulators, board members, senior managers, and business peers.">
  • Maintaining oversight of emergency arrangements exercises and providing feedback to those developing and maintaining the arrangements.">
  • Developing, maintaining, and deploying an effective Operational Experience feedback system for the Barrow site.">

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential:

  • ">
  • A working knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and experience working on a nuclear licensed site from a similar role.">
  • Experience of managing programmes of work within the nuclear industry or equivalent highly regulated industry.">
  • Experience of engaging and influencing senior management and external regulators.">
">

Desirable:

  • ">
  • A Marine Engineering Submariner background or experience of Nuclear Submarine Build & Commissioning.">
  • A Degree or equivalent in a STEM subject.">
  • Experience in Audit & Regulation.">
