North Lanarkshire Council: Supporting Children with Additional Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at North Lanarkshire Council. As an Additional Needs Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with a broad range of additional support needs in various educational settings.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will work closely with children, some of whom have severe or complex needs, to provide individualized support and care. Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with daily living tasks, such as personal hygiene and meal preparation
  • Supporting children with their educational and recreational activities
  • Providing emotional support and reassurance to children
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized support plans

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Recent experience working with children on a voluntary or professional capacity
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations
  • Qualifications in Standard grade/O-grade (or equivalent) English and Maths/Arithmetic (desirable)
