Job Opportunity

Aberdeenshire Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer or Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Health Service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a varied team alongside other Environmental Health Officers, Authorised Officers, and Technical Staff to deliver high-quality services to the public.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in at least one subject area, such as Health and Safety, Licensing, Housing, Pollution, and Public Health.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders on environmental health matters.
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to identify and address potential health and safety risks.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Requirements

  • Hold a Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification.
  • Have a minimum of one additional qualification in a relevant subject area, such as Health and Safety or Public Health.
  • Have a strong understanding of environmental health principles and practices.
  • Be able to travel within the North East of Scotland at short notice.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Application Process

Applications for this role will be considered from graduate Environmental Health Officers who are currently working towards their diploma in environmental health and aim to complete their professional training and attain the diploma within the next twelve months.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
