The Briggs Equipment Group is a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. We are currently seeking a skilled Apprentice Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to complete our 4-year Apprenticeship Programme. As an Apprentice Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on our range of Materials Handling and Powered Access Equipment.

Salary and Benefits

This is a salaried position with a starting annual salary of £15,700, progressing to £25,000 in Year 4 (subject to satisfactory performance). You will also receive a company uniform and PPE, brand-new stocked Toolbox, float to pay for travel expenses, and access to our Briggs Boost benefit scheme offering discounts on purchases from high street stores.

Responsibilities

  • You will complete the Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard within Years 1-3 of the programme.
  • Gain on-the-job experience, starting with shadowing your mentor and other Engineers, progressing to performing tasks under supervision, then alongside qualified Engineers where your work will be checked and signed off.
  • In Year 4, you will gain independent on-the-job practical experience and undertake further internal training to become a fully-qualified Engineer.
  • Work will be carried out on customer premises and at Briggs Equipment Group workshop locations within your specified region.

Requirements

  • Hold 3 GCSEs at grade 4 or above in English, Science, and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Have enthusiasm for all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Show ability to complete apprenticeship qualification tasks independently, manage and prioritise own workload, and work to deadlines under pressure.
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in inclement weather conditions and completing both manual labour and administrative tasks.
