Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Apprentice Forklift Truck & Powered Access Engineer. As part of our 4-year training programme, you will gain hands-on experience in maintaining, servicing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within a range of materials handling and powered access equipment.

In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers, learning from them and developing your skills through on-the-job training and internal courses. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be considered for a permanent contract as a fully qualified engineer with a starting salary expectation of around £30k+ dependent on location.

About the Role:

  • You will complete a 3-year apprenticeship qualification: Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard
  • Gain on-the-job experience, starting with shadowing your mentor and other engineers, progressing to performing tasks under supervision, then alongside qualified engineers where your work will be checked and signed off
  • Work will be carried out on customer premises and at Briggs Equipment Group workshop locations within your specified region

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 GCSEs at grade 4/C or Scottish National 5 Grade C or above in English, Science & Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Enthusiasm for all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety principles
  • Able to complete apprenticeship qualification tasks independently, manage and prioritise own workload, work to deadlines under pressure
  • Clear, polite, and professional communication skills
