Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Firmware Engineer to join our Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) team at Schneider Electric. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing embedded software that delivers value to our SHEMS products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop efficient, high-quality embedded software that meets the requirements and user stories defined by our business analysts and systems engineers.
  • Maintain the integrity of the embedded software architecture throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Adopt in-house best practices for code integrity and design validation.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure timely delivery of new products according to agreed timescales.
  • Work with project management to support project planning and estimation.

Requirements:

  • Proven skills in modern embedded C++ development.
  • Demonstrable experience in Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and distributed revision control tools (such as Git).
  • Experience with developing for containerized embedded Linux-based platforms such as Docker and microservice architectures.
  • Preferably, experience of developing for low-power wireless comms, such as Zigbee, Wi-Fi, and BLE.
  • A degree in a STEM discipline such as Electronics, Computer Science, Maths, or similar, or equivalent experience.
