About the Role

Sutton Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Finance Business Partner to join its shared finance service with Kingston Council. This role will focus on supporting the council's Environment, Housing and Neighbourhoods directorate, which includes Highways, Housing, Parking, Parks, Planning and Building Control, Temporary Accommodation and Waste.

The successful candidate will provide strategic support to the Head of Financial Planning and Business Partnering, developing subject matter expertise and ensuring that services produce accurate and useful financial information and forecasts. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining financial plans and forecasts for the directorate
  • Providing financial advice and guidance to senior officers and leadership
  • Leading or providing financial support to change and transformation programmes
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing business partner support to services, including waste and recycling, housing and homelessness, and planning and building control. They will also have experience in leading or providing financial support to change and transformation programmes, and a relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Finance Business Partner who can provide strategic support to our services and senior officers. The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in providing business partner support to services
  • Experience in leading or providing financial support to change and transformation programmes
  • A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to engage and inspire
