About the Role:

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Geography department, aligning with the school's overall vision and educational goals.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that is engaging, challenging, and promotes lifelong participation in Geography for all students.
  • Ensure the Geography program complies with national curriculum requirements and incorporates innovative teaching methods.
  • Lead by example, teaching high-quality Geography lessons that foster a love of the subject and physical activity amongst students of all abilities.
  • Oversee the work of Geography teachers within the department, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Geography program, implementing improvements based on data analysis.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents, fostering a positive and inclusive environment within the Geography department.
  • Promote the importance of geography and its relevance to the wider world.
  • Oversee and develop a range of extracurricular geography clubs and activities.
  • Encourage participation in interschool competitions and external geographical events.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments within the school to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A highly qualified and experienced Geography teacher with a proven track record of success in leading and developing Geography programs.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of geography in students of all abilities.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and empower staff.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to promoting equality and inclusivity within Geography.
  • Ability to utilize data to monitor progress and implement improvements within the program.
  • Enthusiasm for working within a dynamic and ambitious school environment.
