Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead the Geography department, ensuring that students achieve outstanding results in Key Stage 3 - 5 Geography.
  • To teach Geography lessons to students, promoting high-quality teaching and learning.
  • To monitor student progress, identifying areas where additional support is required and implementing effective interventions.
  • To maintain discipline and good order within the department, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Monitoring Progress
  1. To regularly review student progress, setting targets and providing individualized support to those who require it.
  2. To work closely with subject teachers, providing guidance and coaching on best practices in teaching and learning.
  3. To analyze data on student performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  4. To develop and implement effective strategies to raise standards of teaching, learning, and progress within the department.
Leadership of the Department
  • To set clear goals and objectives for the department, aligning with the school's vision and values.
  • To deploy resources effectively, ensuring that all staff members have the necessary tools and support to deliver high-quality education.
  • To promote a culture of excellence within the department, encouraging staff to strive for outstanding results.
  • To maintain accurate records of student progress, reporting to senior leaders as required.
