About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Specialist to join our team at the British Business Bank. As a Business Development Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in the UK by providing expert guidance and resources to help them grow and succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide business support and guidance to small business owners and entrepreneurs, helping them to develop and implement business plans and strategies.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of new business applications to determine eligibility, readiness, and support requirements.
  • Support business owners in preparing business documentation, including business plans, cash flow forecasts, and personal survival budgets.
  • Deliver ongoing mentoring support to business owners to help them make decisions about how to sustain and grow their business.
  • Conduct loan assessments, including due diligence on each business, and make recommendations as to whether and why the business should receive a loan.
  • Work closely with the lending team to agree on outcomes for all business applications and communicate outcomes to business owners.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in a targeted and fast-paced customer service environment, using a range of communication tools.
  • Natural people person with prior experience of managing relationships.
  • Knowledge of the business support landscape and clear understanding of the challenges facing small business owners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, communication skills both written and verbal, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality standards.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and managing multiple systems, well-organized, and target-driven, with a passion to succeed and exceed against targets and objectives.
