About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Specialist to join our team at the British Business Bank. As a Business Development Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in the UK by providing expert guidance and resources to help them grow and succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and nurture a portfolio of small business clients, providing tailored support and guidance to help them achieve their business goals.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of new business applications to determine eligibility, readiness, and support requirements.
  • Support clients in preparing their business documentation, including business plans, cash flow forecasts, and personal survival budgets.
  • Deliver ongoing mentoring support to clients to help them make informed decisions about their business.
  • Conduct loan assessments, including due diligence on each client, and make recommendations on whether and why the client should receive a Start Up Loan.
  • Work closely with the Lending Team to agree on outcomes for all applications and communicate outcomes to clients.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in a targeted and fast-paced customer service environment, using a range of communication tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work with numbers and manage multiple systems.
  • Passion for helping small businesses and entrepreneurs succeed.
