About the Role

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. As an Adult Community Elderly Care Speech and Language Therapist, you will work closely with adults with learning disabilities in the Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP).

Job Description

The successful candidate will work within the LDP, collaborating with healthcare practitioners, social workers, care coordinators, psychiatrists, and occupational, arts, and speech & language therapists. You will be responsible for managing a team caseload of clients with complex learning disabilities, providing professional supervision to other staff/students, and contributing to the planning, development, and evaluation of learning disability services.

A full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle are essential, as you will be required to travel independently around the county, meeting strict time deadlines. Your duties will include participating in the delivery of countywide specialist LD Speech and Language Therapy, providing professional supervision, and contributing to the planning and development of learning disability services.

Main Responsibilities
  • To participate in the delivery of countywide specialist LD Speech and Language Therapy by managing a team caseload of clients with complex learning disabilities.
  • To provide professional supervision to other staff/students as appropriate, including appraisal and professional development, particularly mandatory training.
  • To contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of learning disability services, including contributing to defined projects as delegated by the LDP management team.
  • To manage a specialist case load providing assessment, identification, and treatment of communication and swallowing needs of adults with a learning disability.
Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC, and post-basic dysphagia qualification. Essential experience includes working with adults with learning disabilities, managing a caseload, and speech and language therapy assessment and intervention relevant to adults with an LD. Desirable qualifications include post-qualifying experience within a community MDT, care coordination in CPA/case management, and experience in providing clinical supervision.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £45,653 - £76,611 per annum, depending on experience.
