Workshop Controller

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Workshop Controller to lead and inspire our workshop team at our Mercedes-Benz Dealership in Gloucester. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the flow of work through the workshop, ensuring quality and compliance of all works carried out, and maximizing utilization and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the workshop team to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure profitability.
- Oversee the flow of work through the workshop, ensuring quality and compliance of all works carried out.
- Maximize utilization and efficiency of the workshop team.
- Supervise and develop the workshop team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Monitor and report on workshop performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to, including health and safety, quality, and customer service standards.
- Collaborate with other departments, including sales and service, to ensure seamless communication and delivery of customer service.
- Manage and oversee workshop apprentices, providing guidance and support to ensure their successful development.
- Ensure that all statutory requirements, including trading standards, vehicle and consumer legislation, fire, health and safety, etc. are adhered to.
- Manage and oversee scheduling and deadline management to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Handle all internal and external customers and suppliers with courtesy and ensure the Rygor and Mercedes-Benz experience is delivered to all contacts.
Requirements
- Industry qualifications achieved to a minimum of Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or mechanical engineering (all modules completed).
- Strong passenger car knowledge and experience.
- Process driven.
- Previous experience as a senior technician.
- Strong technical background.
- Good interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and able to motivate others.
- Leadership and the ability to delegate.
- Ability to work under pressure and to multi-task in a busy environment.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Great communication, verbal, and written, and ability to inspire others.
- Supervisory experience.
