About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Engineering Project Management to join our dynamic team at Blatchford. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for leading our cross-functional engineering project teams and driving the execution of technical deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver Blatchford's R&D Product Development Roadmap, focusing on business goals and objectives.
  • Support the creation of commercial and clinical requirements for our 3-5 Innovation Roadmap.
  • Facilitate project definition, documenting project scope, objectives, and desired business outcomes.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, producing suitable EPM dashboards for transparency across senior leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with R&D leadership to prepare project budgets, ensuring scope is realistic and accurate.
  • Recruit, develop, and coach the Engineering Project Management team, leading a team of professional project managers.
  • Define and report on measures or KPIs for all product development projects, ensuring business contributions are well controlled.
  • Manage project risk, supporting inputs at system integration points and defining realistic cross-functional mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with senior R&D functional leaders to develop and execute corrective actions, addressing time pressures, skillset issues, or capacity opportunities.
  • Manage, control, and track all project resourcing levels, including internal/external people resources, purchased material, and device validation builds.
  • Monitor and coordinate all technical documentation across a Stage Gate process, including overseeing/guiding Design Transfer, in accordance with ISO 13485, FDA, and MDR requirements.

Requirements
  • BSc or equivalent in Engineering
  • Extensive experience in medical device development, including experience in leadership roles in all phases of product development
  • Demonstrated experience of direct management and leadership experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Solution-oriented, enjoys getting results, and delivering technical excellence
  • High level of enthusiasm, motivation, and drive for results
