Job Title: Fabrication Process Improvement Engineer

As a key member of the Centre of Excellence (CoE), the Fabrication Process Improvement Engineer plays a vital role in driving best practice manufacturing and engineering improvements within the Hydrogen Technologies production plants. This role requires a deep understanding of one or more of HT's unit operations or processes, as well as the ability to coach and work with others to support and drive safe and efficient operation of the unit/process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of the site EHS Improvement Plan, HT Sustainability goals, and local site Operational Improvement Plans.
  • Participate in the completion of Hazard Studies and Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure the assigned unit/process has been evaluated for, and remains compliant with, current standards and best practice.
  • Support both Process Engineering and Process Technology teams during the NPI process (Evaluate through to Close Out) to provide insight, knowledge, and ways of working.
  • Provide support to production and manufacturing teams to overcome problems with manufacturing within area of specialism/expertise, which may result in the redesign of existing equipment along with replacement or changes to existing methods of operation.
  • Liaise with other members of the Process Engineering Group to deliver the identified requirements.
  • Proactively seek improvements to quality or efficiency resulting in yield improvements in materials manufacture through feedback from operations, other plants within JM Group and external resources.
  • Manufacturing improvements are not restricted to materials manufacture and will include working processes, documentation, and automation of existing plant and equipment.
  • Use a data centred approach to help complete capacity/capability studies and identify improvement projects relating to plant performance and make recommendations to show improved value proposition.
  • Collect, organize, and analyse data to identify systemic improvement opportunities to resolve problems within production units.
  • Monitor and use process data analysis to identify and implement SPC or alternative process control techniques.
  • Develop policy, engineering and operating standards and KPI's to ensure performance, quality, safety and compliance requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Work collaboratively with Process and Project engineers to support the specification, design, procurement, commissioning, and qualification of new process equipment.
  • Interface with the Process Technology, Quality, Planning & Logistics, Commercial and Production departments to identify and define plant improvements and manufacturing requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience within process engineering/development or relevant operations.
  • Understanding of heat and mass balances, P&IDs and PFDs and other process.
