About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team in Oswestry. As a key member of our residential unit, you will provide essential support and care to young people between the ages of 8-18 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives.
  • Maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment in the homes.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours when necessary.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home to promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of students and maintain up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred methods of communication.
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with young people is desirable.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • NVQ or QCF level 3 in Children and Young People is desirable.
  • You must be able to commute to Oswestry.
