Job Title: Plant Workshop Foreperson

Activus Recruitment is assisting our client in seeking a skilled Plant Workshop Foreperson based in Cove, Aberdeen.

Job Purpose:

As a Plant Workshop Foreperson, you will be responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of plant and equipment, ensuring professional standards are achieved and maintained, and workshops are run efficiently and productively while complying with HSE Legislation.

Duties:
  • Provide technical support for plant and equipment activities within the department.
  • Supervise the effective and efficient running of workshops and associated yard areas, ensuring safe and environmental systems of work are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure plant and equipment maintenance and repair works are carried out in a cost-effective and efficient manner while minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor the quality of work produced by plant fitters and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide advice and guidance on part of purchases and optimal level of stock holding.
  • Adhere to the oil and lubricants issue system for the plant and equipment.
  • Ensure workshop and third-party fitters are utilizing the appropriate PPE and other safety equipment.
  • Ensure third-party fitters and/or contractors adhere to company HSE policies with particular attention to Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of work.
  • Conduct Tool Box Talks and contribute to Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Ensure plant and equipment maintenance and repair works are kept and recorded on appropriate job sheets.
  • Timesheets are coded accurately and submitted on time.
  • Contribute to the plant and equipment replacement plan and provide recommendations in terms of replacement and disposal.
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of department personnel to maintain standards of performance, productivity, and discipline.
  • Promote a team working philosophy while motivating and supporting the workforce.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company, ensuring visitors, customers, and staff are communicated to in a polite and courteous manner.
Requirements:
  • Develop personal skills and knowledge base through ongoing training.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Carry out any reasonable ad hoc duties as required.
