Job Title: Plant Workshop Foreperson

Activus Recruitment is assisting our client in seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Workshop Foreperson to join their team in Cove, Aberdeen.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of plant and equipment, ensuring that professional standards are achieved and maintained, and that workshops are run efficiently and productively while complying with HSE legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and guidance to plant and equipment activities within the department.
  • Supervise the effective and efficient running of workshops and associated yard areas, ensuring safe and environmental systems of work are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure plant and equipment maintenance and repair works are carried out in a cost-effective and efficient manner, minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor the quality of work produced by plant fitters and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide advice and guidance on parts procurement and optimal stock holding levels.
  • Adhere to the oil and lubricants issue system for plant and equipment.
  • Ensure workshop and third-party fitters are utilizing the appropriate PPE and other safety equipment.
  • Ensure third-party fitters and contractors adhere to company HSE policies, particularly Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of work.
  • Conduct Toolbox Talks and contribute to Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Ensure plant and equipment maintenance and repair works are recorded on appropriate job sheets.
  • Timesheets are coded accurately and submitted on time.
  • Contribute to the plant and equipment replacement plan and provide recommendations for replacement and disposal.
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of department personnel to maintain standards of performance, productivity, and discipline.
  • Promote a team working philosophy, motivating and supporting the workforce.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company, ensuring visitors, customers, and staff are communicated with in a polite and courteous manner.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Develop personal skills and knowledge base through ongoing training.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Carry out any reasonable ad hoc duties as required.
