Job Title: Data Security Compliance Adviser

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Security Compliance Adviser to join our team at The Emerald Group Ltd, Search and Selection. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of data security and compliance across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • End-to-End Data Subject Request Process: You will be responsible for managing the entire process of fulfilling data subject requests made under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), including subject access requests and erasure requests.
  • Documentation and Communication: You will work on developing and maintaining internal documentation and communications regarding the data subject request process to ensure clarity and efficiency across departments.
  • Team Collaboration: You will collaborate with the Data Security Compliance Team to handle requests in a structured, efficient, and cost-effective manner, while complying with UK data protection legislation and meeting legal deadlines.
  • Tool Development and Integration: You will work with team members to develop and integrate tools involved in the data subject request process, such as the OneTrust Privacy Rights Automation module and other internal platforms.
  • Process Review and Improvement: You will share responsibility for reviewing existing assessment and accountability processes and working with business stakeholders to create new ones where required, assisting with the recommendation of improvements to achieve compliance and reduce risk.
  • Record Optimization: You will assist with the optimization of records, lists, and assessment processes, as well as the continual improvement of associated documentation.
  • Club-Wide Processes: You will contribute to the application of Club-wide processes, such as Data Protection by Default and by Design, working with business teams and the IS department as necessary.
  • Data Security Policy: You will assist in the refresh and communication of the Club's Data Security Policy set.
  • Data Protection and Security Training: You will contribute to the development and execution of data protection and data security training, awareness campaigns, and eLearning training rollouts.
  • Communication and Guidance: You will support the DPO in ensuring the importance of data security compliance is appropriately communicated across the Club by assisting with the production of Club communications, articles, and guidance for the team's intranet presence.
  • Advice and Guidance: You will assist with the production of well-written and carefully considered advice and guidance in response to data protection and data security enquiries, both internal and external.
  • Ad-Hoc Challenges: You will be willing to take on ad-hoc challenges and find solutions for implementation.
  • Representation: You will represent the team in meetings and for projects and initiatives, where required.
  • Industry Events: You will attend industry events, conferences, and seminars to keep up-to-date with the threat landscape and any upcoming legislative change.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • UK Data Protection Law: You will have strong knowledge and experience of current and upcoming UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations (PECR), and familiarity with guidance published by the Information Commissioner's Office.
  • Data Protection Qualifications: You will have one or more recognized data protection qualifications, such as the UK GDPR Practitioner, CIPP/E, or CIPM.
  • Data Subject Requests: You will have extensive experience of fulfilling data subject requests made under the UK GDPR.
  • Team Experience: You will have experience of working in a team where providing guidance and advice about UK data protection law to internal and external stakeholders is a primary focus.
  • Confidentiality: You will have proven experience in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Planning and Organization: You will have first-rate planning and organization skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Discretion: You will have the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining discretion.
  • Communication Skills: You will have excellent written English coupled with clear and articulate verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: You will be methodical, with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Motivation and Focus: You will be highly motivated and focused with a desire to help, use initiative, and add value.
  • IT Skills: You will have confident general IT skills, ideally with use of Google Workspace and Adobe Acrobat Pro, but as a minimum, with Microsoft Office / O365 software suites.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Google Workspace: You will have highly proficient use of Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, etc.), Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel in particular), and use of the redaction tools and other key features in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Information Security Best Practice: You will have familiarity with information security best practice, such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.
  • Payment Card Industry Standards: You will have awareness of payment card industry standards and requirements, including the Payment Card Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
