Job Overview

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cefn Coed Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in developing services and working towards a 24-hour single point of admission service supported by two treatment wards.

Main Responsibilities

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will have overall clinical responsibility for the management of inpatients, overseeing Care and Treatment Plans, delegating responsibility, and working with the multidisciplinary team. You will also be instrumental in developing the Outline Business Case with the senior management team, ensuring your clinical voice is heard in the creation of new inpatient services and the interface with community teams.

Key Requirements
  • Be medically qualified, MRC Psych or equivalent
  • Have an excellent understanding of current developments in psychiatry and other aspects of mental health
  • Have substantial knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, contemporary issues in mental health, and knowledge of and experience in purchaser/provider contractual issues

As a Consultant Psychiatrist with Swansea Bay University Health Board, you will have the opportunity to reach the top of the Consultant pay scale within 6 years and receive a commitment award every 3 years, up to a maximum of £26,672 per annum. Additionally, you will be entitled to Wales' annual recruitment incentive payments until 31st March 2025.
